Ingredients

  • 6 egg whites
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 3/4 cup sugar
  • 6 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 275°F (135°C).
  2. Grease a 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking pan.
  3. Beat egg whites, cream of tartar, and salt until foamy.
  4. Gradually beat in 1 3/4 cups sugar, one tablespoon at a time, until stiff and glossy.
  5. Spread the meringue mixture evenly in the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 60 minutes.
  7. Turn off the oven and leave the meringue in the oven with the door closed for about 12 hours or overnight.
