- Heat oven to 275°F (135°C).
- Grease a 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking pan.
- Beat egg whites, cream of tartar, and salt until foamy.
- Gradually beat in 1 3/4 cups sugar, one tablespoon at a time, until stiff and glossy.
- Spread the meringue mixture evenly in the prepared pan.
- Bake for 60 minutes.
- Turn off the oven and leave the meringue in the oven with the door closed for about 12 hours or overnight.
