Ingredients

  • pie shell
  • 5 to 5 1/2 cups fresh berries
  • 1 to 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • sugar for topping
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Bake the pie shell until golden brown and let it cool.
  2. Mash enough berries to measure 1 cup.
  3. In a bowl, stir together sugar and cornstarch.
  4. Gradually stir in water and crushed berries into the sugar and cornstarch mixture.
  5. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture boils and thickens.
  6. Boil and stir for 1 minute.
  7. Allow the filling to cool before pouring into the baked pie shell.
