- Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Blend eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla until well combined.
- Gradually stir in scalded milk into the egg mixture.
- Pour the mixture into six 6-ounce custard cups.
- Sprinkle each with nutmeg.
- Place cups in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
- Pour very hot water into the pan to within 1/2 inch of the tops of the cups.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until a knife inserted halfway between the center and edge comes out clean.
- Remove cups from water and serve warm or chilled.
