Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons shortening, melted
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs and sugar; add melted shortening.
  2. Add flour, sifted with salt, baking powder, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
  3. Alternate adding the dry mixture with milk, mixing until smooth.
  4. Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/2 inch thickness.
  5. Cut with a doughnut cutter.
  6. Fry in deep hot fat (365 to 375 degrees) until brown.
  7. Drain on absorbent paper.
