Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 pound margarine
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon anisette extract
  • 4 eggs

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar and margarine together.
  2. Add eggs one at a time. Add anisette extract and beat until smooth.
  3. Add baking powder and flour one cup at a time, then beat and scrape the bowl until all is combined smoothly.
  4. Divide the dough into 3 equal loaves and roll into shape.
  5. Bake in a 375°F oven until golden brown.
  6. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  7. Slice each loaf diagonally into 1-inch slices.
  8. Return slices to a 350°F oven and toast for a few moments until crisp and toasted.
