Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon soda
  • 1/4 cup shortening or lard
  • 2 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients.
  2. Pat out on a floured board or table.
  3. Cut out the biscuits and place them in a greased pan or skillet.
  4. Bake at 400°F for 10 to 15 minutes or until brown.
  5. Optionally, put melted bacon drippings in the pan, then add biscuits and turn them over to grease both sides.
