Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup berries

Instructions

  1. Sift dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients except berries and mix together with a fork or pastry blender.
  3. Fold in well-drained berries.
  4. Fill muffin cups two-thirds full.
  5. Bake in a moderate hot oven at 400°F for 20 to 25 minutes.
