Ingredients

  • 2 (14 oz.) cans stewed tomatoes
  • 1 can hot water
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped onions
  • 1 cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 3 pounds lean coarse ground beef
  • 4 1/2 tablespoons chili seasoning
  • 2 cups mashed cooked pinto beans

Instructions

  1. Combine the stewed tomatoes and hot water in a pot and bring to a boil.
  2. Add chopped onions, chopped bell pepper, salt, and minced garlic.
  3. Mix well and bring the mixture back to a boil.
  4. Add the uncooked ground beef, stirring constantly until browned.
  5. Once the mixture comes to a good boil, cover and simmer for 90 minutes.
  6. Add additional water if needed during simmering.
  7. Stir in 4 1/2 tablespoons chili seasoning.
  8. Cover and simmer for an additional 60 minutes.
  9. Add 2 cups mashed cooked pinto beans to tighten the chili.
