Ingredients

  • 1 stick margarine or butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 ounces brandy, rum or bourbon

Instructions

  1. Melt margarine or butter in a saucepan.
  2. Add sugar to the melted margarine.
  3. Reduce heat and stir in vanilla.
  4. Beat eggs and add them slowly to the mixture, stirring constantly to prevent cooking.
  5. Ensure the heat is very low after the sugar has melted.
  6. Add brandy and stir briskly.
  7. Refrigerate the sauce to keep.
  8. Serve warm over bread pudding.
