Ingredients

  • 4 slices buttered bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/3 cup sliced Brazil nuts
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Cut buttered bread into finger-width pieces.
  2. Arrange in layers in a buttered baking dish, sprinkling each layer with sliced Brazil nuts.
  3. Beat eggs slightly, then add sugar, salt, vanilla, and milk.
  4. Mix well and pour over the bread in the dish.
  5. Garnish the top with additional Brazil nuts.
  6. Bake in a slow oven at 325°F (160°C) for 1 hour.
