- Grind coffee in a small nut grinder as finely as possible.
- Sprinkle about half of the ground coffee over the softened ice cream.
- Scoop up the ice cream one scoop at a time into serving dishes.
- Try to mix without over handling the ice cream.
- After each layer of ice cream, sprinkle coffee over the top until all coffee and ice cream are used.
- Garnish with whipped cream and sprinkle with remaining coffee and cherries.
- Serve at once.
