Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups soft bread crumbs or 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1/4 cup sugar for bread or 1/3 cup sugar for rice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup raisins
  • 2 beaten eggs

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk in a saucepan until warm.
  2. Add the bread crumbs or cooked rice and the margarine to the warm milk.
  3. Stir in the sugar, salt, and beaten eggs into the hot milk mixture, stirring slowly.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  5. Set the baking dish in a pan of hot water to create a water bath.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour or until the pudding is set.
