Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 5 squares baking chocolate
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Melt 1/2 cup butter and 4 squares of baking chocolate over low heat in a heavy saucepan. Cool.
  2. Stir in sugar.
  3. Add 4 eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Add sifted flour, salt, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla; mix well.
  5. Pour into a greased and floured 10 x 15-inch baking pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes or just until firm. Do not overbake.
  7. Melt remaining 1/2 cup butter and 1 square of chocolate over low heat in a heavy saucepan.
  8. Stir in powdered sugar, blending well. Remove from heat.
  9. Add the remaining egg, vanilla, and lemon juice.
  10. Stir in chopped pecans.
  11. Spread frosting over warm brownies.
