- Cook and drain the frozen chopped broccoli.
- Cube the day-old wheat bread.
- Grate the Cheddar cheese.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Spray a 2-quart casserole with nonstick cooking spray.
- Layer the cooked broccoli, bread cubes, half of the cheese, and chopped onion evenly in the casserole.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheese evenly on top.
- Whisk together the remaining ingredients (onion, powdered garlic, dry mustard, ground nutmeg, salt, pepper) and pour over the casserole.
- Bake for 40 minutes or until the custard is slightly puffed.
