Ingredients

  • beef steak, 1-inch thick (Porterhouse, T-bone, sirloin, or club)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. monosodium glutamate
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper

Instructions

  1. Set the temperature control of the range at broil.
  2. Arrange the steaks on the broiler rack.
  3. Place in the broiler with the top of the steak 2 inches from the heat source.
  4. Broil for 8 to 10 minutes on each side for rare steak.
  5. When the steaks are browned on one side, sprinkle with half of the seasoning mixture.
  6. Turn the steaks and broil the second side.
  7. Repeat with the remaining half of the seasonings.
  8. Test for doneness by cutting a slit along the bone.
