Ingredients

  • 1 cup tiny uncooked country style ham bits
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 3 (10 oz.) packages frozen baby lima beans
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons sugar

Instructions

  1. Slice small bits of ham from the shank end.
  2. Cook ham bits in a large saucepan in boiling water for 5 minutes.
  3. Add frozen lima beans and pepper to the saucepan.
  4. Return to boiling, then reduce heat.
  5. Cook according to package directions for the lima beans.
  6. Add sugar and cook for 1 minute more.
  7. Drain well before serving.
