Ingredients

  • 2 large crabs
  • 2 anchovy fillets
  • 1 glass white wine
  • 1 cup white bread crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Mash the anchovy fillets and work in the bread crumbs and a pinch of nutmeg.
  2. Add the white wine and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Bring the mixture gently to the boil in a saucepan and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Flake the meat from the crabs and mix with the melted butter.
  5. Add the crab meat and butter mixture to the hot wine mixture.
  6. Cook gently for 4 minutes, then serve on a hot dish surrounded by strips of buttered toast.
  7. Serve with a side salad of your choice.
