Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. nuts, coarsely chopped

Instructions

  1. Combine and cook sugar, salt, baking soda, and buttermilk until a soft ball forms in cold water.
  2. Remove from heat and add butter, vanilla, and nuts.
  3. Beat until mixture is thick and creamy.
  4. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto wax paper.
  5. Let stand until cool and set.
