Ingredients

  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 4 lb. chuck, round or rump of beef
  • 1 to 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Cut garlic and rub it well onto the meat, pressing some of the garlic into the meat.
  2. Add salt and pepper to the meat.
  3. Dredge the meat with flour.
  4. Brown the meat on all sides in a small amount of fat.
  5. Add buttermilk and cook slowly until the meat is tender, about 3 to 4 hours.
  6. The remaining liquid can be served as a delicious gravy.
