Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 to 3 lb. shredded cabbage
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 Tbsp. Crisco
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. vinegar

Instructions

  1. Saute the chopped onion in Crisco until translucent.
  2. Drain the shredded cabbage and add it to the sautéed onion, mixing well.
  3. Add about 1 cup of hot water and bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. Stir in sugar, vinegar, salt, and pepper.
  5. Cover and reduce the heat, then simmer for approximately 45 minutes.
