Ingredients

  • 8 c. water
  • 1/3 c. dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 oz. baking chocolate
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 c. coffee
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 c. brandy

Instructions

  1. Heat water, brown sugar, chocolate, cloves, and cinnamon to boiling in a 3-quart saucepan; reduce heat.
  2. Simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes.
  3. Stir in coffee.
  4. Remove from heat; cover and let stand for 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in vanilla.
  6. Strain coffee through 4 layers of cheesecloth.
