Ingredients

  • 2 c. yellow corn meal
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. finely chopped shallots
  • 1 tsp. Accent
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 c. warm milk
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, salt, chopped shallots, Accent, and sugar.
  2. Add approximately 1 cup of warm milk or enough to make a mush, and stir well.
  3. Add the beaten egg and shortening to the mixture.
  4. Mix thoroughly and set aside for 30 minutes so that the mixture reaches room temperature.
  5. Thoroughly stir the mixture before cooking.
