- Combine dates, raisins and baking soda in 1 cup water and boil. Cream the oleo and sugar. Add vanilla and egg; beat well. Add flour and mix until moistened. Pour in fruit mixture and add nuts.
- Place a small amount of oleo in cans and put in oven until melted. Fill cans 2/3 full. Bake at 325° for 45 minutes.
