Ingredients

  • 1 c. dates, diced
  • 3/4 c. seeded raisins (Muscat)
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 2 Tbsp. oleo
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine dates, raisins and baking soda in 1 cup water and boil. Cream the oleo and sugar. Add vanilla and egg; beat well. Add flour and mix until moistened. Pour in fruit mixture and add nuts.
  2. Place a small amount of oleo in cans and put in oven until melted. Fill cans 2/3 full. Bake at 325° for 45 minutes.
