Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 400°F; put rack in middle of oven.
  2. Dark pans may require slightly lower temperature or shorter baking time than shiny pans.
  3. Grease muffin cups or use paper baking cups.
  4. Sift dry ingredients together in a bowl.
  5. Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Pour batter into prepared muffin cups.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove muffins from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
