Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl.
  2. Cut in butter or margarine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in sugar and raisins.
  4. Combine milk and eggs; beat with a hand beater until well mixed.
  5. Add the milk and egg mixture to the flour mixture and stir well until combined.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased and floured loaf pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
