Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider using brown butter instead of regular unsalted butter. If you don't have walnuts, pecans or almonds make excellent substitutes. To make the process easier, you can use store-bought caramel sauce instead of melting caramels. Ensure cookies are fully cooled before dipping to prevent the caramel from sliding off.

Serving Suggestions

Serve these Candy Apple Cookies as a delightful treat for dessert or during festive gatherings. They pair beautifully with a hot cup of coffee or tea. For a fun twist, consider serving them alongside Vanilla Ice Cream or drizzling with chocolate sauce for added decadence.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. If you want to keep them longer, refrigerate for up to a week. To reheat, place them in a preheated oven at 300°F for about 5 minutes, which will help restore their soft texture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of nut?

Yes, you can easily substitute walnuts with your favorite nut, such as pecans or almonds. Just ensure they are finely chopped and toasted to enhance their flavor, adding a delightful crunch to the cookies.

How can I make these cookies gluten-free?

To make these Candy Apple Cookies gluten-free, simply replace the all-purpose flour with a 1:1 gluten-free baking blend. Ensure that all other ingredients, particularly the caramels, are also gluten-free to avoid any cross-contamination.

Can I freeze the cookies?

Absolutely! You can freeze the unbaked cookie dough balls for up to 3 months. Just roll them into balls, freeze on a baking sheet, and then transfer to a freezer-safe bag. Bake them straight from the freezer, adding a couple of extra minutes to the baking time.
