Ingredients

  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shortening (Crisco)
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
  3. Place flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  4. Drop in shortening (Crisco).
  5. Pour in milk, vanilla, and 2 eggs.
  6. Beat 300 strokes.
  7. Add 2 eggs and beat another 300 strokes.
  8. Beat until blended.
  9. Fold in chopped nuts.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven.
  11. Cool for 10 to 15 minutes before removing from the pan.
