Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup white corn syrup
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • several drops food coloring
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup powdered milk

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, white corn syrup, and butter in a pan, then bring to a boil while stirring constantly.
  2. Turn the heat to low and boil for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove from heat and add vanilla and food coloring if desired.
  4. Meanwhile, mix powdered sugar, salt, and powdered milk in a separate bowl.
  5. Add the dry mixture all at once to the hot mixture in the pan.
  6. Stir until the mixture cools enough to handle.
  7. Knead until stiff enough to hold its shape.
  8. Shape into triangles or other desired shapes.
  9. Yield: approximately 1 3/4 pounds of candy.
