A hearty Canadian-inspired meat and potato pie with warm spices, perfect for comforting family dinners or special occasions, offering rich flavors and flaky pastry goodness.

Ingredients

  • 1 (10-inch) pie crust
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 lb. sausage meat
  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 1 large onion
  • 1/4 tsp. allspice
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves

Instructions

  1. Line a 10-inch pie pan with pastry.
  2. Combine ground beef and sausage meat and cook, stirring, until meat particles separate, about 10 minutes.
  3. Boil potatoes and onion together until tender.
  4. Drain and mash the potatoes and onion, adding some of the potato liquid.
  5. Add allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt to taste, meat, and some of the pan drippings.
  6. Combine well.
  7. Turn the meat mixture into the pastry-lined pan.
  8. Cover with top crust and cut slits in the top.
  9. Bake at 425°F for 30 minutes.
  10. When reheating, use a 350°F oven for a few minutes.
