Ingredients

  • 1 pkg pecan sandies cookies
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3 cans sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Combine crushed pecan sandies and melted butter.
  2. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch pan to form a crust.
  3. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Set aside to cool.
  5. Place 3 unopened cans of sweetened condensed milk in a large pan filled with water, ensuring they are fully submerged.
  6. Bring the water to a gentle boil and cook the cans for 3 hours, maintaining the water level so it does not fall below the top of the cans.
  7. Remove the cans from water and cool completely.
  8. Open the cooled cans and spread the caramel over the cooled crust.
  9. Top with Cool Whip or whipped cream.
  10. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
