Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup oleo (butter), softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups cold water

Instructions

  1. Cream the oleo (butter) and sugar until smooth.
  2. Combine the flour and salt in a separate bowl.
  3. Add the flour mixture and milk to the creamed mixture, stirring until smooth.
  4. Stir in the raisins and spread the batter in a greased 8-inch square pan.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the brown sugar and cold water to make the caramel sauce.
  6. Pour the caramel mixture over the batter in the pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm.
