Ingredients
- 4 tomatoes, quartered
- 1/3 cup green pepper, chopped fine ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons milk ⓘ
- 1/2 cup malt vinegar ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon salt ⓘ
- nonnutritive sweetener (equal to 1 cup sugar) ⓘ
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon ⓘ
- 1/8 teaspoon allspice
- 1/8 teaspoon crushed anise seed ⓘ
- 1/4 teaspoon ground mustard ⓘ
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper ⓘ
- 1/4 teaspoon mace ⓘ
Instructions
- Puree the tomatoes, green pepper, and milk until smooth.
- Pour the mixture into a pan; add the malt vinegar, salt, and nonnutritive sweetener.
- Tie the cinnamon, allspice, crushed anise seed, ground mustard, red pepper, and mace loosely in cheesecloth and add to the pan.
- Simmer uncovered until the mixture is reduced by about half, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the spice bag before serving.
