Ingredients

  • 1 lb. extra sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 lb. margarine
  • 4 cups plain flour, unsifted
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. red pepper

Instructions

  1. Grate the cheese.
  2. Mix the grated cheese and margarine together.
  3. Combine all dry ingredients and gradually add to the cheese mixture.
  4. Using a star-shaped cookie press, pipe the mixture onto wax paper in long streams.
  5. Cut the streams into approximately 2-inch strips, then fold or twist to form rings and press the ends together.
  6. Repeat until all dough is used. This recipe makes approximately 25 dozen rings.
