A flavorful cheesy calzone filled with ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, and optional blue cheese, perfect for customizing with your favorite fillings and served with marinara sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pizza crust, uncooked
  • 1 c. low-fat Ricotta cheese
  • 1 c. skim Mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 c. Blue cheese (optional)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp. parsley flakes
  • 2 c. marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the pizza crust on a floured surface into a large circle.
  3. In a bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, eggs, garlic salt, Italian seasoning, and parsley flakes. Mix well.
  4. Optional: Prepare additional fillings such as onions, mushrooms, spinach, peppers, olives, ground beef, sausage, Canadian bacon, or pepperoni.
  5. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over half of the pizza crust, leaving a border around the edges.
  6. Add your desired optional fillings on top of the cheese mixture.
  7. Fold the crust over to enclose the fillings, forming a calzone shape. Seal the edges by pinching or folding.
  8. Place the calzone on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Warm the marinara sauce and serve alongside the calzone for dipping.
