Ingredients

  • 6 potatoes
  • 1 large onion (optional)
  • 15 slices cheese
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Peel potatoes and slice them into 1/4-inch thick slices.
  2. Slice the onion into thin rings, if using.
  3. Cook the sliced potatoes and onion until tender.
  4. Butter a glass dish and place half of the sliced potatoes in the dish.
  5. Cover the potatoes with slices of cheese and pats of butter.
  6. Add the remaining sliced potatoes on top.
  7. Cover with more cheese and pats of butter.
  8. Pour milk over the layered potatoes.
  9. Melt the cheese in the oven or microwave if needed.
  10. Serve warm.
