Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/4 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup finely minced nuts
  • 1/2 pound red candied cherries

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream butter, confectioners sugar, and vanilla until light.
  2. Stir in flour and chopped nuts until well blended.
  3. Cover and chill for 30 minutes or until firm enough to handle.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, shape the dough into 1-inch thick slices.
  5. Turn slices cut side up and place a candied cherry in the center of each slice.
  6. With lightly floured hands, shape each slice into a ball, covering the cherry completely.
  7. Place the balls on an ungreased cookie sheet, 1 inch apart, and chill for 15 minutes.
  8. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool on racks.
