Ingredients

  • 1 box cherry chip cake mix
  • unsweetened applesauce
  • egg whites
  • 1 cup fat free sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 can lite cherry pie filling

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cake mix as directed on the box, substituting applesauce for the oil and 2 egg whites for every egg called for. Bake in 2 round pans as package directs.
  2. Cool the cakes for 10 minutes; then remove from pans and allow to cool completely.
  3. Once cooled, chill the cakes in the refrigerator.
  4. Mix the unsweetened sour cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Spread the sour cream mixture over the top of the chilled cakes.
  6. Spoon the lite cherry pie filling over the sour cream topping.
  7. Keep the assembled cake refrigerated until ready to serve.
