Ingredients

  • 4 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 beaten eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Melt unsweetened baking chocolate and sticks of butter in a double boiler.
  2. Cool slightly.
  3. Beat in sugar.
  4. Blend in beaten eggs, one at a time.
  5. Add vanilla and salt, then stir in flour and chopped pecans.
  6. Bake in a 400°F oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Frost them, if desired, but they're so good, need no glossing over.
