  2. Mix together the chicken, chopped celery, sliced water chestnuts, minced onion, cream of mushroom soup, cream of celery soup, milk, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pour this mixture over the dressing mixture in the casserole dish.
  4. Top with the reserved crumbs from the dressing mix.
  5. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes.

Tips & Substitutions

For added flavor, consider substituting the cream of mushroom and cream of celery soups with homemade versions or other cream soups like chicken or cheddar. If you want a bit of crunch, add chopped nuts or crushed crackers to the topping. Ensure the chicken is fully cooked before mixing; rotisserie chicken can be a great shortcut for this recipe. Adjust the seasoning according to taste, especially if you use salted butter.

Serving Suggestions

This Chicken Arcadia pairs beautifully with a simple green salad or steamed vegetables for a balanced meal. Consider serving it alongside rice or a crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce. For a comforting family dinner, try offering it with a side of Squash Casserole (Even Kids Love This!) for a delightful combination.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, cover with foil and warm in the oven at 350°F until heated through, about 20-25 minutes. Alternatively, you can microwave individual portions, but be cautious not to overcook to retain moisture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of soup in this recipe?

Absolutely! You can experiment with different cream soups based on your preference. Cream of chicken or even a cheesy soup can work well. Just ensure the flavor complements the other ingredients for the best results.

Is it possible to make this dish ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the casserole a day in advance. Assemble the ingredients, cover tightly, and store in the refrigerator. When ready to bake, just allow it to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before placing it in the oven to ensure even cooking.

What can be used as a substitute for the Pepperidge Farm dressing?

If you don't have Pepperidge Farm dressing, you can use any cornbread stuffing mix. Alternatively, make your own from crumbled cornbread seasoned with herbs like sage or thyme for a homemade touch that complements the chicken perfectly.
