Ingredients

  • 6 boneless chicken breasts, skinned
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 (10 3/4 oz.) can cream of celery soup
  • 1/4 cup dry sherry or vermouth
  • 1 cup herb-flavored croutons or stuffing mix
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine

Instructions

  1. Arrange the chicken breasts in a greased shallow 2-quart baking dish and place Swiss cheese slices over each piece.
  2. Mix the cream of celery soup with sherry until well combined.
  3. Pour the soup mixture over the cheese-covered chicken.
  4. Sprinkle the herb-flavored croutons or stuffing mix evenly over the top.
  5. Dot the dish with butter or margarine.
  6. Bake at 350°F (177°C) for 1 hour or until the chicken is cooked through.
  7. If using a glass baking dish, lower the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C).
