Ingredients

  • 1 large package Pepperidge Farm bread crumbs
  • 1 stick oleo, melted
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups cooked chicken, chopped
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup celery, chopped
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 can cream of celery or mushroom soup

Instructions

  1. Mix together the bread crumbs, melted oleo, and water.
  2. Place half of the breadcrumb mixture in a greased casserole dish.
  3. Combine cooked chopped chicken, mayonnaise, chopped onion, chopped celery, and salt; put this mixture into the casserole over the breadcrumb layer.
  4. Top with the remaining breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Beat eggs and milk together and pour evenly over the casserole.
  6. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Take the casserole out 1 hour before baking.
  8. Spread the cream of celery or mushroom soup evenly over the top.
  9. Bake uncovered at 325°F for 40 minutes.
  10. Top with grated cheese and bake for a few more minutes until melted.
