Ingredients

  • 1 frying chicken, cut up
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cup lard or shortening
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Coat chicken pieces with flour mixed with salt.
  2. Brown the chicken in lard or shortening.
  3. As pieces are browned, arrange them in a casserole dish.
  4. Saute chopped onion, pepper (if using), in melted butter or margarine.
  5. Add all other ingredients and bring to a boil.
  6. Pour the sauce over the chicken in the casserole.
  7. Cover and bake at 350°F for about 1 hour.
