Ingredients

  • 2 lb ground meat
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup chili powder
  • 3 to 4 (1 lb) cans pinto beans
  • 3 to 4 (1 lb) cans stewed tomatoes
  • water
  • whole kernel corn
  • crackers

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground meat in a large pot.
  2. Drain off excess fat from the cooked meat.
  3. In a large gumbo pot, combine the cooked meat and chili powder.
  4. While on medium heat, stir in the beans, stewed tomatoes, and water to taste.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes.
  6. Serve the chili over crumbled crackers and top with warmed whole kernel corn.
