Tips & Substitutions

For a spicier kick, consider adding diced jalapeños or a splash of hot sauce. You can substitute the American cheese with a blend of sharp cheddar and Monterey Jack for a richer flavor. If you prefer a vegetarian version, ensure that your chili seasoning mix is meat-free. This dish also works well if you use frozen hominy instead of canned, just adjust the water accordingly.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Chili Hominy as a hearty side dish or a main course. It pairs wonderfully with cornbread or alongside a fresh salad for a light meal. For a fun twist, serve it as a topping for nachos, similar to Joe's Nachos, or as a filling in burritos. Consider garnishing with fresh cilantro or diced tomatoes for added freshness.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When reheating, add a splash of water to loosen the mixture and microwave it in short intervals, stirring occasionally, until heated through. Alternatively, reheat in a skillet over low heat, stirring to prevent sticking.
