Decadent choco-caramel bars combine rich chocolate, sweet caramel, and crunchy nuts for a delightful treat perfect for dessert lovers and special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 14 oz. pkg. caramels
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • 6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup melted margarine
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Melt the caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk until smooth; set aside.
  2. Combine the cake mix, melted margarine, and 1/3 cup of milk to form a dough.
  3. Press half of the dough into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan and bake for 6 minutes.
  4. Remove from oven and evenly spread chopped nuts and chocolate chips over the baked dough.
  5. Pour the melted caramel mixture over the nuts and chips.
  6. Crumble the remaining cake mix over the top of the caramel layer.
  7. Bake for an additional 20 minutes until golden and firm.
  8. Allow to cool well before cutting into bars.
