Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup confectioners sugar

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter until smooth.
  2. Add sugar, salt, and vanilla; cream well.
  3. Gradually add flour and mix until incorporated.
  4. Shape the dough by teaspoonfuls into balls.
  5. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  6. Press a hole in the center of each cookie.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 12 to 15 minutes until delicately browned.
  8. Fill the centers while warm.
  9. Cool the cookies.
  10. Frost as desired.
