Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add water, vanilla, and almond extract; mix well.
  3. Blend in flour and chopped pecans (if using) until combined.
  4. Chill the dough for 4 hours.
  5. Shape the chilled dough into balls.
  6. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 20 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  9. Roll the cookies in powdered sugar before serving.
