Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in warm water in a mixing bowl.
- Add shortening, sugar, cocoa, salt, and 1 cup of flour. Mix well.
- Stir in the remaining 1 1/4 cups of flour and blend well, scraping down the bowl.
- Add the egg and beat for 2 minutes at medium speed with a mixer or beat 300 strokes by hand.
- Scrape down the bowl.
- Cover with a cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Stir down the dough, beating about 25 strokes.
