Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 3/4 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 2 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine flour, salt, cinnamon, and baking soda.
  2. In a large bowl, beat vegetable shortening, sugar, and egg until creamy.
  3. Mix in corn syrup and melted unsweetened baking chocolate.
  4. Gradually beat in the flour mixture until well blended.
  5. Shape the dough into balls; roll each ball in sugar.
  6. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 12 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool a few minutes before removing from the pan.
