Ingredients

  • 1 large head cabbage
  • 4 medium onions
  • 4 green and red peppers
  • 6 green tomatoes
  • 6 cups vinegar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 5 cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pickle spices

Instructions

  1. Chop all vegetables finely.
  2. Put spices in cheesecloth and tie well, so they don't spill into the pickle.
  3. Put vegetables, vinegar, water, sugar, and spice bag in a large kettle.
  4. Cook until the vegetables are well done and the mixture is thickened.
  5. Remove the spice bag from the kettle.
  6. Put the hot mixture into pint jars and process in a boiling water bath for 5 minutes.
